Delhi nursery admission points system 2027-28: how to plan without using one generic formula
Delhi nursery admissions often use school-specific point criteria. The important word is school-specific: two schools can both use distance, sibling or alumni criteria while assigning different points, bands and supporting-evidence rules.
2027-28 criteria are not assumed from 2026-27
SaplingSky uses verified 2026-27 criteria as a historical planning baseline only. Once a school publishes its 2027-28 criteria, that new-cycle notice controls. This avoids a common SEO and calculator problem: presenting last year's point table as though it were current.
What the historical data shows
SaplingSky's verified 2026-27 dataset contains 8,404 active criterion rows across 1,676 schools. The figures below show the number and share of those schools in which each criterion appeared.
1,615 schools in the historical dataset.
1,513 schools in the historical dataset.
1,089 schools in the historical dataset.
984 schools in the historical dataset.
227 schools in the historical dataset.
81 schools in the historical dataset.
These are prevalence figures, not point values. A criterion appearing at many schools does not mean the same weightage or definition was used at all of them.
How to calculate your points correctly
- Open the correct school and campus.
- Use the criteria for the correct academic cycle.
- Calculate distance using the method and band the school actually specifies.
- Add sibling, alumni, girl-child, staff or other points only when your evidence meets that school's rule.
- Treat the score as eligibility/planning information, not a guarantee of selection.
Why a single Delhi-wide points calculator can mislead
The Directorate of Education requires schools to publish their adopted criteria and point break-up for the relevant cycle. Historical records show substantial variation in how schools define neighbourhood distance and other categories. The safe approach is therefore to calculate against the individual school's verified table, not a city-wide template.

Next: check distance before you shortlist
Distance was the most common historical criterion in the verified dataset, but the bands vary by school.
