Delhi nursery admission distance criteria 2027-28: why a few hundred metres can matter
Neighbourhood distance is one of the most common Delhi nursery admission criteria, but there is no single distance band that applies to every school. Parents need the correct campus, the correct cycle and the school's own published bands.
Distance appeared in verified 2026-27 criteria for 1,615 of the 1,676 schools in SaplingSky's historical criteria dataset. That prevalence is useful for planning, but it does not tell you what a specific school will use in 2027-28.
Distance points are school-specific
One school may award its highest points inside a short neighbourhood radius; another may use several bands extending farther out. Historical Delhi DoE records show schools publishing their own criterion labels and point values. This is why a generic statement such as “within 3 km gets X points” should never be applied across Delhi unless the relevant school's current notice says so.

Road distance, straight-line distance and school instructions
Parents often see different answers from different map tools because route distance and straight-line distance are not the same measurement. The controlling question is not which method feels more accurate; it is which method the school's verified admission criteria require.
