Girl-child criteria appeared at a majority of schools in SaplingSky's verified 2026-27 dataset, but the point value varied widely. The relevant question is therefore not simply whether a school awards girl-child points, but exactly how that school defines and scores the criterion.
What the historical points distribution shows
Girl Child appeared at 1,089 schools. Ten points was the dominant historical value, but many schools used 5 or 20 points and smaller groups used 15, 25, 30 and other values. This variation is large enough to change a parent's shortlist, especially when combined with distance and sibling points.
What this means for 2027-28
For 2027-28, the school-specific notice must confirm whether a girl-child criterion continues and whether there are extra conditions such as first girl child, only girl child, twin treatment or documentary requirements.
